Today's AFC championship game features the NFL's Co-MVP Peyton Manning who's been as hot as any QB can be in the big games leading to the Super Bowl, as he'll be taking the Colts into Foxboro to face the New England Patriots. Despite the Colt's dominance breezing into this AFC Championship game, the Patriots will be their biggest challenge this postseason due to the fact they'll be playing for the third straight week so fatigue may play a factor a long with artic conditions. The Patriot's proved last week they can win in frigid conditions as they beat Tennessee in brutal conditions, but will the harsh New England winter weather be enough to cool off the hottest QB playing today?
At home the Patriot's "D" has been rock-solid concidering the two touchdowns scored by the Titans last week was one more than New England allowed at home in their previous six games combined. Manning will be facing a defensive that possess many looks that keeps opponents on their heels with a mixture of defensive packages that will be coming from all angles. The Colt's will have to play their best game of the year to add on to their 6-2-1 ATS mark when on the road and to make it to the Super Bowl. When oddsmakers this year have tagged the Colts as the 'dog they've penned their ears back, and have grabbed the bone a long with a perfect 5-0 ATS record.
When playing at home the Patriots have been breaking the New England "locals" by covering 8 of their 9 last home games. These numbers have come from big "D" performances and off the arm of Pats' QB Tom Brady who's been stellar at Gillette Stadium this season. He has not thrown an INT at home in 282 passes, the longest streak in over 30 years, and has thrown 129 passes in postseason play without a pick which is astonishing. Overall Brady is 4-0 in the playoffs and has completed 81 of 138 passes for 773 yards for two TDs and one INT. In the last 6 meetings NE is 6-0 ATS, and if they can cover one more time against Indy they'll be in the big one!
The Colts under helms of Peyton Manning have indeed been impressive thus far in their hopes of playing on Super Bowl Sunday, but will fall short against the Patriots. It won't be because of Manning's lack of ability to win big games, as he's shown us all he can, but the Colts downfall will be cruel winter eliments, a stout Pats' "D", and too much Brady!
